Galvanic Current Treatments for Body Sculpting and Cellulite Reduction
What can galvanic body treatments do?
Galvanic current treatments can be used on the entire body including hips, buttocks, stomach, arms and thighs to:
- Increase the tone and firmness of the skin
- Reduce the appearance of cellulite including dimpling
- Diminish fat storage and break down existing fat
- Increase blood circulation that can help to remove and reduce toxins
How do galvanic treatments work on the body?
Galvanic treatments on the body work primarily to reduce the appearance of cellulite and to firm the skin with the use of cellular energy (also called non-surgical body sculpting). When used during a body treatment, the current is set to a negative charge. The body gels or lotions applied to the targeted area of the body also needs to have the same charge – negative.
When the galvanic instrument is placed on the targeted area, the two negative charges (from the instrument and the gel/lotion) repel each other driving the gel/lotion deep into the pores of the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. This is similar to two magnets of the same charge repelling each other. The gel/lotion is gently massaged into the skin with the instrument. The gels/lotions used in these treatments are typically full of beneficial ingredients for the skin.
While all of this is happening, negative currents of the galvanic instrument also help to stimulate cellular energy of the muscles and tissues, improving blood circulation and increase the body’s ability of remove toxins from the skin and connective tissues. After the treatment is completed, the excess gel is wiped gently from the skin and is typically follow up complementary skin products.
What is cellulite and why do galvanic currents reduce its appearance?
Cellulite comes about when enlarged fat cells pinch the blood vessels, blocking the delivery of key cellular nutrients and hampering the removal of waste products (toxins). Increased cellular toxin levels can change the cellular metabolism. This change often leads to a hardening of collagen fibers surrounding the cells and causes the surrounding tissues to swell. These hardened fibers then drag the skin down, while the swollen tissues push up to the surface the skin, resulting in the bumps and dimples associated with cellulite.
Though diet and genetics are primary factors in fat cell size, the body’s hormones can play a critical role. This makes it possible for even thin people to have cellulite. Cellulite is most commonly found in the thigh and buttock area, but can also be found in the knee, hip, lower abdomen, and under arm areas.
Anyone can have cellulite; however, it is most common in women because of the differences in connective tissue between women and men. Women have vertical strands of connective tissue bundling pockets of fat together. As fat cells swell and the connective tissue hardens and pulls down, dimples appear. Men have arrangement of connective tissue that is at more of an angle and therefore they do not have the downward pull of connective tissue which can result in dimples. (Sorry ladies!)
Galvanic treatments reduce the appearance of cellulite by stimulating the cells which increases the blood flow. The increased blood flow also can help to open up blocked vessels allowing for the delivery of the essential nutrients for normal cellular health. Additionally, increased blood flow can help to remove the toxins in the skin that will build up over time without proper blood circulation.
Galvanic current treatments also help to deliver ingredients found in the lotions deep into the skin. This allows these ingredients that target and break down fat cells to get into the layers of the skin and fat cells where they work most effectively.
What pain or risks is associated with galvanic body treatments?
All galvanic treatments are painless procedures. Some people due feel a light tingling sensation but most people seem to enjoy it. Most people also find kind the gently massaging action of the instrument energizing as well.
Risks are also very minimal – people who have braces or other large amounts of metal dental work and those with heart conditions and pace makers should not use galvanic current treatments.
Where can I recieve galvanic body treatments and what are the costs associated them?
You can get galvanic body treatments in many high-end Europe style spas all over the world. A galvanic current treatment is in price range from $100 to $350 (U.S. Dollars) depending on your location, length of the treatments and type of treatment you receive. These costs are more affordable than the costs associated with body lifts and liposuction without the pain or surgery offering good results. However, the galvanic body treatments can now be done at home at a fraction of the high-end spa prices.
